. we on a little out burst today about what is going on at martin luther king school and this board has covered up criminal activity from the staff of the school. he makes a joke about psychological testing and pearson to evaluate the students here in san francisco. pearson is under investigation for corruption in new york state and will be investigateed in california for corruption because you're spending more time on testing than taking care of the students particularly here at martin luther king. additionally this superintendent and the board is aware of the ongoing situation at martin luther king and the superintendent said there was no cover up and slander going on but the whistle blower said the principal laid on a student and injured as a result that was set up in a scheme to be fired by this management. they spent thousands of dollars of public money to fire him and the arbitrator could not go along with the lies and slanders against toby cane and rejected it and said he should be brought back to work. that is a victory for san francisco and the students at martin luther kin

francisco was visation valley or martin luther king. he's maintained a 3.7 gpa and is not challenged. he has almost no homework and no projects. the gate program seems to be unorganized and communication with the teachers has resulted in little change. in order to reach martin luther king, kesean must take two buses results in a one-hour commute each way. we live five blocks from (inaudible) middle school. he was registered this december with abstos, we were understood that these schools were banned. his father was told that he would have no information about waiting list until march 2013, really, the list does not all right exist? what are the options for a solid student in this system? how can we get a good education for kesean? how can we plan alternative for what is not providing him with a challenged or adequate education? any places for me to pursue this? >> we have you get with the chief of staff, and have the middle schools to follow up with you. >> to whom do i give this? thank you. >> good evening ladies and gentlemen of the board of education. i hope you remember me from last

going to happen to the principal from doctor martin luther academy school? now some of you know about this principal and some of you know about the school. but, none of you of the bored of supervisors have taken a stand on this issue. the second issue i want to talk about is a wellness center that is going to be built in the bay view hunter's point. this is my subjective opinion. when it comes to children, innocent children, we have to give them the best. so we have an area here on third and cargo which, is the most contaminated area and the city administrator knows and i even found about 500 toxics hot spots this is one of the worst. we can't look the other way while a wellness center is built in the most contaminated area, we cannot afford to look the ear way. never mind it's california pacific medical center give is $4 million or even more. we cannot look the other way. >> thank you. neck speaker. . next speaker. >> mr. president, members of this board, in my memory, lies the statement of one man and that statement in four words "the four words were "i had a dream," today, i

no physical abuse and bullying of students at martin luther king. well, i would say there was a thorough investigation and the staff involved in that incident haven't been interviewed bit management at the school district. so what kind of thorough investigation was done by school district about the bullying of students at martin luther king school? furthermore we just heard about the charter school and want a music room bechtel and the program are involve in san francisco as are other privatization companis who want to privatize the schools and drive the schools towards core standards. i would argue that is for the destruction of education. it's not the advance of students of san francisco and the students of this country. core standards are being used not to provide more teaching, more education, but to drive more testing and to drive really the students out and further privatization of the school. another issue was a video done of this incident at the school. there was a video done of the physical abuse of the student at the school and apparently amos brown was able to see tha

because of the martin luther king school. i live up the street from that school and was headed here for the press conference which happened to be on his birthday, actual birthday. passed by that school and heard on the loud speaker a female voice coming over the pa system telling the students "we're going to have a march to commemorate martin luther king a birthday. wear your white t shirts. that is going to signify peace and justice" and i thought, well, hey i'm going down to the board of education to a demonstration about tobias, this good worker who put his all into the students at the school and this principal that pit this child down. i couldn't wrap my mind around that. here she is on the and justice and wearing white t shirts but i'm taking my retirement time because i'm retired to head down to demonstrate against someone like that. it just didn't fit. now, i am wearing this t shirt "stop the killing. start the healing" , a campaign we had in the 80's. it starteinwith ben were trying to get gun legislation and things going. we didn't wait until a bunch of white kids got killed in

can you do? now, in district 10, in a school named after doctor martin luther king we have a principal to punish a child the principal sat on this child. the san francisco board knows about it. some of you know about it. they will have a press conference a few days from now and address the situation. i was here the last meeting where it two women from each chamber, each were talking and talking, appointing one another to be president. in the end they withdrew that because it was a farce. and you think the world is not looking at it. what type of process do we have in this chamber? what type of process? you reviewed your speech, see if you contribute directly to the constituents of san francisco. there are so many issues out there, important issues. what do you talk about? this that and the other which makes no sense. imagine if you're traveling from one place to the other and you know where you are going, to whatever. logistics. this is an international city that does not respect the first people. i can give you another 200 reasons, good stuff that we should do and not do thank you ver

, and january 21. they picked january 15 i think obviously because it's the birthday of dr. martin luther king, jr., we remember who was killed by an act of gun violence. so they're giving $200 out per gun. they have some other stipulations here. and just one more thing. it says the county has contributed $10,000 from its trust fund, and there's additional money. it's like an ongoing thing with them. but particularly because it's opening to residents of san francisco county and i can't help but think all of this was sparked by our own gun buy-back program. we have something rolling and looks like other focuses will pick up on it. and furthermore i will just say this. in the spirit of the cooperation that was done with the gun buy-back in december between -- or a month, the programs, the community programs in san francisco and oakland and the departments in san francisco and oakland, i think we should continue that spirit, because guns travel. so we can get the word out about this one also to the citizens of san francisco, and to everybody, i think maybe we can get some more guns ou
